Despite it being a straight up port of a four-year-old game, Metal Slug 3 still a complete blast to play, and stranger still, it's hard to explain just how that's possible. The Wii version boasts different controller configurations, most taking advantage of the Wii Remote, but the Classic Controller is not supported. Metal Slug 3 is all about shooting stuff before it shoots you - a game that's true to its retro roots - but strangely enough, it doesn't show it's age in its gameplay.

Otherwise, it's a great rental that will find you blowing through both games in about an hour due to unlimited continues. Metal Slug Anthology is a video game compilation for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and the Wii. If you want some old-school shooter action that requires lightning quick reflexes and takes weeks to master then this game is for you. And there's no life bar you die if you get hit even once. At any moment there are dozens of enemies on the screen, all firing at you from every direction. With Metal Slug 4 and 5, that could be a near-impossible task. As impossible as that may sound, I eventually accomplished that feat on Metal Slug Advance. After my thirtieth time playing it I realized what Metal Slug really is: a trial-and-error fest that you play again and again until you can run through each level without dying even once. However, the anthology on PS4 has horrendous input lag. I was a fan of the game back in the day and was convinced to grab it. There was a PS2 port in September 14, 2006.
This game, alongside Metal Slug 3D, were created as commemoration for the series 10th anniversary. It was the first main game in the franchise not to run on SNKs Neo Geo MVS arcade hardware. I picked this up yesterday (having seen the Daniel Ibbertsons Metal Slug: The Complete History - SGR video posted just last week). Metal Slug 6 ( 6) is a run and gun video game for the Sammy Atomiswave arcade platform released in 2006. My first introduction to the Metal Slug series was through Metal Slug Advance for the GBA. PSA - Stay away from Metal Slug Anthology.
